ALL VOLUNTEERSThere will be a volunteer orientation session in Meeting Room A of the Iowa City Public Library on June 1st from 6-8 pm. You will receive your free volunteer T-shirt to wear while working and more information about your responsibilities. On the day of your shift, please report to the Volunteer Check-In booth in front of the Pedestrian Plaza at Washington and Dubuque Streets 10 minutes before your shift starts and report back to the booth to check out after completion of your shift.

 

Positions

 
 

 ARTIST HELPER—provides artist with breaks to eat lunch, use the restroom, or get out of the sun, watches over booth while artist is away to ensure merchandise is safe, gives patrons information about when artist will be back to purchase items, and offers assistance with set up and take down if working morning or afternoon
 
ARTIST LIASION--serves as host to artists, assists with artist check-in on Friday evening and Saturday morning, directs artists to their booths, distributes information as people check-in, and provides direction, support, and guidance as needed
 
ARTIST TRANSPORTATION—transports artists to and from appropriate locations (PLEASE NOTE: you must be at least 18 years old and must provide copies of a valid driver’s license and insurance along with volunteer application)
 
BACKSTAGE HOSPITALITY—coordinates the food and beverage area in the VIP tent for the musicians and sponsors, makes sure items are stocked and displayed nicely, maintains a clean area, and honors special requests
 
BANK DEPOSIT ASSISTANT—collects and counts money from sales booths throughout Arts Festival
 
BEVERAGE GARDEN SECURITY—helps wristband and maintain security in the Beverage Garden during Arts Festival
 
BERVERAGE GARDEN SERVER—serves drinks in the Beverage Garden during Arts Festival
 
BEVERAGE GARDEN SUPERVISOR—supervises and helps manage the Beverage Garden during Arts Festival
 
BEVERAGE GARDEN TICKET SALESPERSON—sells tickets in the Beverage Garden during Arts Festival
 
CHILDREN’S DAY BOOTH ASSISTANT—assists with various activity booths (face painting, arts and crafts, handing out prizes, etc.), helps set up if working first shift, and helps tear down and clean up if working last shift
 
FESTIVAL SET UP—helps set up equipment and materials throughout the festival
 
FESTIVAL TEAR DOWN—helps take down equipment and materials throughout the festival
 
FIRST AID BOOTH ASSISTANT—handles basic first aid, including handing out Band-Aids, sunscreen, and ice
 
FUN ZONE BALLOONS BOOTH ATTENDANT—helps with balloons booth at FUN Zone during Arts Festival
 
FUN ZONE COTTON CANDY BOOTH ATTENDANT—helps with cotton candy booths at FUN Zone during Arts Festival
 
FUN ZONE CRAFTS BOOTH ATTENDANT-- helps with crafts booths at FUN Zone during Arts Festival
 
FUN ZONE GAMES BOOTH ATTENDANT—helps with games booths at FUN Zone during Arts Festival
 
GLOBAL VILLAGE GENERAL ASSISTANT—walks the village and family stage area, helps at displays when needed, makes sure displays have all supplies, helps musicians load and unload equipment from stage, and helps tear down and clean up at conclusion of event
 
GLOBAL VILLAGE PASSPORT BOOTH ATTENDANT—works registration booth, greets visitors, hands out packets to participate in Global Village, directs people as needed, helps set up if working first shift, and helps tear down and clean up if working last shift
 
GLOBAL VILLAGE BOOTH ASSISTANT—helps with activities in each country booth, receives training after assignment to a booth, helps set up if working first shift, and helps tear down if working last shift
 
GREEN TEAM RECYCLING & COMPOST ADVOCATE—handles recycling and compost at the festival
 
INFORMATION BOOTH ATTENDANT—helps festival-goers with any questions or concerns
 
MAIN STAGE GENERAL MANAGER—supervises all main stage set up and assists bands as needed with special arrangements 
 
MERCHANDISE BOOTH ATTENDANT—helps sell festival merchandise (T-shirts, water bottles, etc.), helps set up if working first shift, displays merchandise, makes sure booths have adequate change on hand, helps tear down if working last shift, and helps move left over merchandise to storage if working last shift on last day
 
MAIN STAGE SECURITY—keeps public away from the back stage area and off the stage, assists musicians as needed (providing water, carry equipment, etc.), and helps tear down if working last shift on Saturday
 
MUSIC SALES BOOTH ATTENDANT—helps sell merchandise provided by featured artists
 
SECURITY PATROL—makes sure barricades remain in closed position, walks around festival area to locate any potential problems, and reports potential problems or issues to staff member in merchandise booth
 
TRASH PICK-UP—helps pick up trash and keep the festival grounds clean
 
VENDOR COORDINATOR—coordinates Culinary Row, manages ice sales during the festival, and works directly with food vendors
 
VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN BOOTH ATTENDANT—helps with checking in volunteers throughout the festival
 
WATER BOOTH ATTENDANT—sells water, Pepsi products, Gatorade products, ice cream treats, and cotton candy
